Training & Development

Shaylor Group commits heavily to staff training through a number of routes:

  • Management Academy Programme
As a progressive learning organisation, Shaylor Group is committed to the continuous development of individuals at all levels. The Shaylor Management Academy aims to bring together existing and potential managers in a programme of learning that acknowledges existing skills and identifies opportunities for development - all delivered as a flexible, tailored experience to suit specific needs and preferred learning styles.
  • Staff Development Programme
Shaylor Group embraces the belief that structured training and development at all levels is essential to the ongoing success of the business and also to the personal development of the individual. We aim to ensure that all employees have the skills, knowledge and experience to meet the required standards of performance in their specific role.
Opportunities for personal development and advancement are available to all employees with the requisite abilities, characteristics and aspirations to meet the needs and enhance the performance of the business.
  • Apprenticeship Programme
Shaylor Group has a history of supporting apprentices in a variety of trades including electricians, bricklayers, carpenters and plumbers through to qualification and further into supervisory and management roles within our business.

In addition to the above, we support a number of trainees at various stages of qualification, including day release and site experience.

In 2014, Quantity Surveyor Lee Cash was named ‘Young Achiever of the Year’ at the Celebrating Construction Awards. Lee had initially joined Shaylor Group straight from school as an apprentice carpenter and with the encouragement and support of the company, graduated with a First Class Honours Degree in Quantity Surveying from Birmingham City University.

Shaylor Group is also a training partner with the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) which assists employees in gaining professional qualifications and chartered status.
