Health & Safety

Shaylor Group remains committed to providing the highest levels of Health & Safety across all sites and offices. In both  2017 and 2018 we were named as Gold winner at the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Occupational Health and Safety Awards in recognition for our Health & Safety management systems and our contribution to raising standards in the industry as a whole.

A dedicated Health & Safety team work within the business to advise, implement and improve performance. We operate a fully documented Health & Safety System, based on OHSAS18001 which integrates with our ISO9001 and ISO14001 systems.

Records of our performance in Health & Safety are audited both internally and externally on an annual basis and help us to identify and understand areas that might need improvement. Live data is then submitted to our Health & Safety team, where any trends are analysed and a rigorous action plan is prepared.

2017 saw the launch of our Target Zero campaign. Designed to develop and uphold our high standards of health and safety across the company, Target Zero is an initiative created to raise awareness and understanding of potential hazards on site and change perceptions. Target Zero’s purpose is to reduce accidents and incidents involving our staff and supply chain, with the ultimate aim of accident free sites.

We focus on continuous improvement, both in performance and systems. As part of our annual staff appraisal system Health & Safety training needs are assessed and a plan implemented to address any requirements. This includes our commitment to CSCS and links with our Respect for People agenda. We continue to measure and improve our performance across all our projects utilising a number of key performance indicators.
