Project Description

We returned to the George Eliot Hospital site to build a new bereavement centre, The Warren, for the Mary Ann Evan’s Hospice. The name was chosen to reflect the intention of being a warm safe place; a refuge to turn to when needed. This new two-storey building overlooks the wonderful gardens and was designed to be a place of belonging and acceptance. The building has allowed the Hospice to expand its present service and can now offer one to one sessions and monthly Sanctuary Communion groups. The site was awarded a Performance Beyond Compliance certificate by the Considerate Constructors Scheme.

"We had a good relationship with the Site Manager who recognised the challenges in the scheme and was committed to constructing to a high standard. His attention to detail was refreshing. The site was well organised and he maintained a good relationship with the Hospice Client, who continued to run services from their existing building during construction.”
