Project Description

This was a complex project involving various works in a live judicial environment. Daily live programming and planning ensured the team were adaptable and responsive to the sensitivities of the environment. The project scope initially only covered remedial works to the roof including slating ridge tiles and glazing works. The client was so impressed with the site team’s performance further works were added to cover minor internal works including WC refurbishment and escape windows. The team operated on restricted working hours so as not to disrupt normal court proceedings. This involved mainly working early am and late pm shifts and all through the weekend. The team had to work with awkward materials, namely Westmorland slate, the sourcing of which in the correct sizes was a challenge in itself.

“With reference to the roofing contract that was completed by Shaylor Group at Bedford Magistrates’ Court, I would like to state that the consideration taken by Shaylor’s in managing the contracted work effectively whilst enabling the courts to carry on with normal business was much appreciated. Nothing seemed too much trouble to help facilitate the court staff to keep the court business going during the project’s life and your team would be most welcome back in the future with the experience that we have had in working with you.”
