Project Description

Operating within the existing prison, this design and build project replaced all electrical mains and switchgear, together with a total rewire of 90% of the entire prison. All areas were fitted with new general power and lighting. These areas included 510 inmate’s cells, staff offices, workshops, kitchen, laundry, library, education, healthcare, visiting area and many other ancillary buildings. A new 1000KVA standby generator c/w fuel tank and fuel line was installed and three 30 year old boilers were replaced with four new dual fuel boilers, c/w fuel tank and fuel lines. Extensive quantities of asbestos materials were removed to provide an asbestos free site. At its peak time the project was operating four different shift patterns; normal days, afternoon/evening, nights and weekends, in order to accommodate the various working time restrictions, which allowed the prison to function with little or no disruption.
