Site Manager Saves Life

We are tremendously proud of MOJ Site Manager Ryan Penn, who has reluctantly become one of our company heroes after saving a life whilst staying in Boston, Lincolnshire. Working on our HMP North Sea Camp project, Ryan bases himself in the local area during the week to reduce travel times. Last October, in an act of bravery and selflessness, Ryan was able to rescue a woman from the fast-moving River Witham during a suicide attempt.

Former Royal Engineer Ryan acted quickly and located a safety ring and line from a nearby boat to throw out to the woman. Ryan then convinced the woman to allow him to drag her upstream through the strong tide and back to shore, where Emergency Services were waiting. In recognition of his heroic deed, Ryan has been contacted by the Chief Constable of Lincolnshire Police and will be awarded a Public Appreciation Certificate later in the year.

A huge ‘Well Done’ to Ryan for his courage and ingenuity in saving a life. We look forward to seeing the photos from his award ceremony in due course.
