Project Recognised in Considerate Constructors Awards

We are proud to announce that our Barking based Pocket Living project has been named winner of a National Site Award in this year’s Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) Awards.

This is a fantastic achievement, with Pocket Living being our first project registered to the Scheme’s Ultra Site programme. Sites involved in the Ultra Site programme represent the pinnacle of achievement, exceeding the Scheme’s Code of Considerate Practice by demonstrating the highest standards and actively seeking to improve the performance of their own project and that of the wider industry. The Ultra Site vision is for sites to become beacons of best practice and catalysts for exceptional leadership, collaboration and innovation.

Off to a fantastic start, our Pocket Living team are already embodying the spirit of an Ultra Site, implementing a number of fantastic initiatives to boost site appearance, community engagement, environmental protection and safety.

Our team have created an exceptional site set-up which portrays a professional image of Shaylor Group and the wider industry. The set-up incorporates an external digital screen displaying relevant messages to both the public and our workforce, alongside internal screens which show a range of wellbeing messages regarding general health, mental health, exercise and diet. Protecting the environment, in December the project recycled 100% of their mixed construction waste, diverting 1.9 tonnes of waste from landfill.

Alongside this, in August our team hosted a highly successful ground breaking ceremony. The event saw Divisional Director Nick Backhouse and Operations Manager Paul Fairholm joined by Pocket Living CEO Marc Vlessing, Barking and Dagenham Council Leader Cllr Darren Rodwell, Deputy Leader Cllr Saima Ashraf and other key stakeholders to mark the beginning of the construction process.

The CCS Awards showcase the success and achievements of some of the country’s highest performing sites based on inspections carried out throughout the year. Since 1999, the Scheme has been rewarding the UK’s most considerate sites for the contribution they have made towards improving the image of construction. Being held at Plaisterers’ Hall in London on Wednesday 10th April, the awards ceremony will see winning sites presented with either a bronze, silver or gold accolade.

Winning a National Site Award is an exceptional achievement which shows outstanding commitment to both Shaylor Group and the construction industry as a whole.
