Shaylor Group has been awarded with the FORCE Supply Chain Award for 2009 in recognition of outstanding performance on the Royal Mail CORP Framework.
FORCE is the Coventry Best Practice Club, which judged the work of the Shaylor team and supply chain. Its assessment of our performance was that it “demonstrates all that is good about supply chain”.
Key to our success was the collaborative and enthusiastic attitude of our staff and site managers, and the selection of supply chain based on performance and ability. The team will have completed 105 Post Office refurbishments by the end of November 2009, from a start in February and have reduced programme periods and costs and increased levels of quality and satisfaction as the roll-out has progressed.
Richie Shaylor said “This award recognizes the tremendous input of the CORP team, but also acknowledges an enlightened client approach to obtaining value”

Talk of the green shoots of recovery will take time to find their way to the Construction marketplace, in any significant way, in the short term. We must therefore maintain a positive outlook and remain confident that our strategy and direction will chart our course through these difficult times. During the last quarter, we continued to look inwardly, making decisions and appointments that enhance the infrastructure of the business.
Continuing with the theme of investment, following a period of research and consultation, we have decided to launch a new division of the business; Repair &Maintain. This will be led by David Harwood and will focus on the maintenance market and repair schemes on a volume basis. The concentration will be long term relationships, to accord with our strategic and sustainable aspirations. We anticipate this marketplace becoming increasingly buoyant, as public sector bodies seeks to outsource programmes, as pressure to deliver efficiency savings increases.
We are confident in our abilities to make this new business a success, as has been the case with both Special Projects and Strategic Alliance previously. Such commitments in the short term, for the benefit of the long term, demonstrate that we are not afraid to invest during tough times, when many businesses are shedding staff and cutting cost. With a forward order book of £60million and £15 million going into the next financial year, we are confident that our continued drive to pursue strategic business will secure another fruitful year.
Charlotte Jeffries will be joining the JDI Team as the new receptionist on Monday 6th September. Please give her the usual JDI/Shaylor welcome.
